Description

Ocius is a world-leading Australian defence technology company that designs, builds and operates autonomous maritime systems for persistent ocean surveillance.

Combining patented maritime innovation, advanced robotics and artificial intelligence, Ocius delivers long-endurance uncrewed capabilities that provide continuous awareness across vast maritime environments.

Its mission is to secure the global maritime domain by creating “satellites of the sea” that help protect sovereign waters, trade routes and critical infrastructure while keeping people out of harm’s way.

The company’s flagship product, the Bluebottle™ Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV), harnesses renewable energy from the sun, wind and waves to remain at sea for months at a time without refuelling.

These highly autonomous vessels provide persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities above and below the water’s surface, supporting missions such as border protection, anti-submarine warfare, communications relay, hydrography and environmental monitoring.

Their acoustically quiet design and modular payload architecture allow them to carry a wide range of sensors and adapt quickly to changing operational requirements.

Beyond developing technology, Ocius works closely with defence and government customers to rapidly translate operational needs into deployable solutions.

The company manufactures its systems in Australia and provides ongoing operational and sustainment support, ensuring customers receive a complete capability rather than just a platform.

With Bluebottle fleets already supporting the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Border Force and international partners, Ocius is helping shape the future of sovereign maritime surveillance through scalable, mission-ready robotic systems.

Ocius is delivering 40 Bluebottle platforms over a five-year contract with Royal Australian Navy RAN which commenced in early 2026.

This adds to the 15 Bluebottles delivered to the RAN - the majority of which are supporting Operation Resolute by providing maritime surveillance in Australia’s northern approaches.

This landmark agreement represents one of the largest-ever global acquisition contracts for uncrewed surface vessels.

The new Fleet will significantly enhance Australia’s ability to monitor and protect its maritime borders, delivering a cost-effective, persistent and sovereign capability for a nation responsible for one of the world’s largest maritime areas.
