Amiga Engineering,3D,prototyping

In Military, developing the right equipment can be a matter of life and death. Additive Manufacturing, or Metal & Polymer 3D Printing, offers swift production that allows rapid and enhanced testing; to deliver more reliable components that can be used in any military application.

Amiga Engineering provides Australian Sovereign owned capability and is the only company in Australia with Additive Manufacturing, CNC Machining, Fabrication & Welding, Industrial Gearboxes, 3D Scanning, 3D Equipment Sales (including complete 3DSystems branded Printers), and metal powder manufacturing in one location.

The company is accredited to AS9100D for Aerospace, Space and Defence clients, with Quality Management System certification to ISO 9001:2015 for all other manufacturing.

Amiga has designed and manufactured Australian sovereign owned suppressor. Unique in design using Metal 3D printing technology, Amiga has a range of specialised Suppressors; improved with a superior flow-through design

  • Minimized gas back pressure or 'gassing' of the shooter
  • Flow-through design
  • Cycling/ejection reliability and consistency
  • Muzzle velocity maintained
  • Rate of fire consistency
  • Low point of impact changes
  • Sight retention
  • Signature reduction to MIL-STD-1474E
  • 33-35 dB reduction
  • Quick-detach and Solid-mount versions available
  • Able to work in harsh environments with no moving parts
  • Minimal time for water egress if submerged,
  • Easy clean
  • Long-life cycle and most importantly
  • Amiga’s 320g in weight compared to 560g - low soldier fatigue in room clearing
  • Amiga’s 1 to 2 second on-off compared to 6 to 10 seconds for threaded QD
  • Muzzle break design achievable by Additive Manufacture
  • Low signature gas distribution

Parts 3D printed by Amiga are not only for prototyping, but are fit-for-purpose; end-use parts. Amiga currently manufactures for industries including Defence, Aerospace and Space. The DMP metal 3d printing technology that Amiga uses provides capabilities of printing in 30µm or 60µm of finish required to suit the application. For high quality, non-porous and/or a smooth finish, 30µm is perfect.

Additive Manufacturing allows custom bespoke designs that were never thought possible via traditional manufacturing methods. Thin wall sections and intricate cooling channels are perfect for metal 3d printing. Heat exchangers and nozzles are fast and effectively printed in a matter of hours instead of weeks. This advancement in manufacturing allows military equipment and components to have the least down-time possible.

Cutting edge technology gives Australian Sovereign industry a crucial advantage. Additive Manufacturing is used in a large range of military applications; from state-of-the-art weaponry, armour and components, to high-tech surveillance drones. Additive Manufacturing gives high-speed part turn around as well as the ability to develop and adapt components to the military environment.
