  • contributing $8.4 billion annually
  • supporting 12,300 workers in the Australian Defence Organisation and includes a further 24,300 workers in defence industry
  • generating $350 million in exports.

Victoria’s defence industry is renowned for its highly skilled workforce, excellence and unparalleled capabilities in:

  • advanced manufacturing
  • world-class research & development
  • delivering complex defence projects

Victoria plays a critical role in the development and sustainment of Australia’s defence capacity and is recognised internationally for the depth and quality of its defence manufacturing sector, world-class research and development capabilities and highly skilled workforce.

A robust and responsive local supply chain network plays a vital role in building and sustaining multiple defence platforms and systems. These businesses are ready to participate in the land vehicle, sovereign Guided Weapon and Explosive Ordnance Enterprise, future nuclear submarine, surface ship and other Defence procurement programs.

DEFENCE VICTORIA

The Victorian Government’s Defence, Aviation and Aerospace Branch (DAA) was established to secure high value investment, trade and small-medium-enterprise (SME) supply chain development opportunities for the defence sector.

DAA works closely with new market entrants and local companies to help them establish and grow their physical presence in Victoria.

The Victorian Government will facilitate and assist potential market entrants by:

  • providing introductions to stakeholders in the defence industry ecosystem and innovation partners with specialised industry and research expertise
  • considering potential support packages for your project
  • providing a concierge service for site selection and facilitating approvals for development of proposed sites
  • supporting a pipeline of skills development and talent attraction
  • supporting global exports and linkages with Victorian overseas offices

The team also deliver several supply chain initiatives to enhance the capacity and competitiveness of local SMEs to win defence work.
