UAMTEC is an Australian owned and operated company that has designed, developed and patented a suite of advanced MSI (multi sensor inspection) robots for surveying subterranean and subsea assets in GPS denied environments.

It is estimated that utilities globally are annually spending >US $25B maintaining the 1000's of kms of underground pipes, tunnels and infrastructure assets. Current inspection and survey processes and technologies are inaccurate, inefficient and in some cases extremely dangerous.

This is where UAMTEC’s advanced MSI (multi sensor inspection) robots are helping save millions of dollars. In one case study alone, Melbourne Water was considering replacing tunnel infrastructure running under a freeway which was costed at $300 million. Utilising UAMTEC’s ROGER they could survey this asset accurately and repair the tunnel for around $5 million due to the accuracy and reliability of the data UAMTEC captures. The quality of UAMTEC's data is also enabling Water Authorities to leverage AI for faster and more accurate asset assessments.

UAMTEC stands for Utility Asset Mapping Technologies and its core technology, the onboard data conversion hardware and software for fibre optic transfer in a miniaturised form factor, was developed for use in GPS denied, confined space environments. This small form factor and fibre optic technology has enabled UAMTEC to develop a suite of robotic platforms incorporating the latest 4k 360° cameras, 3D laser (LiDAR), radar, and sonar technologies to access all survey environments for Defence, Water Authority assets in water and wastewater management, and verticals in mining, oil and gas, renewables, and environmental agencies.
