Description

ADA (Australian Defence Apparel) is a leading innovator of cutting-edge uniforms and personal equipment specialising in complex user requirements from design to distribution.

As an integrated uniform solutions provider, we have long been providing expert assistance in a variety of industries. ADA is Australia’s largest and primary manufacturer of garments for the Australian Military. Our commitment to combining textiles and technology to solve design problems also stems across Law-Enforcement, Healthcare, and Corporate industries.

Our purpose is to optimise and enhance the performance of those that wear our clothing. Our promise - to find a way forward with agility and skill.

ADA’s long history of continuous service is a source of great pride to our company and our people.

Established in 1912 as the Commonwealth Government Clothing Factory responsible for the manufacture and supply of uniforms to the Department of Defence and the Post Master General’s Department; ADA has outfitted Australia’s fighting forces through two World Wars and humanitarian efforts, playing an instrumental role in creating what has become the iconic visual image of the Australian ‘digger’.

The Australian Defence Force remains a key client to this day, with ADA manufacturing and supplying cutting-edge uniforms, protective clothing and ceremonial dress.

For over 100 years, ADA has endured challenges to its identity, expansion and redefinition of its boundaries, and considerable renewal and restructuring to emerge as the industry leader it is today.

ADA has the capacity to move from scalable prototyping to production under one roof. Our Head Office located in Thomastown, Victoria, houses Design Specialists, Research Teams and Machinists, providing the ability to accelerate and produce a single product demonstration model swiftly.

With the ownership of Australia’s largest dedicated uniform manufacturing facility in Bendigo, Victoria, ADA has the capability to manufacturer ethical and locally made garments.

Our dedicated in-house IT teams provide ADA the capacity to create customised and dedicated e-commerce stores to manage uniform demands for our clients.

Quality Assurance

ADA is accredited by ISO 14001 Environment Management Systems. This covers our Bendigo manufacturing plant and ensures that all processes that could have an impact on the environment are tightly controlled.

The ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System accreditation covers our head office and our manufacturing plant. Our Quality Management System, which is overseen by our full-time Quality Manager, is used to coordinate and control all our manufacturing activities, both local and offshore.

Social Accountability System SA8000:2015 is a global standard advanced by Social Accountability International to ensure that companies have policies and procedures that protect the basic human rights of their workers. Companies are independently audited on their compliance.

ADA only works with overseas companies that have this certification. ADA also conducts its own independent inspections to verify working conditions, the quality of materials used, and social and environmental compliance.
